Rockstar has dated the download. Digital pre-load for Grand Theft Auto VI starts Tuesday, November 10, ahead of the November 19 launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
When it starts
On PlayStation 5, pre-load begins at midnight local time. On Xbox Series X|S it begins for every region at midnight GMT the same day, which is 7 p.m. Eastern and 4 p.m. Pacific on Monday, November 9.
The install needs up to 212 GB of free space, and the exact size depends on the console. Pre-load puts that file on the drive so it is sitting there when the game unlocks on November 19.
Digital on the 10th, boxes on the 12th
Code-in-box copies for both consoles should reach stores on November 12. The case holds a download code. Take-Two’s June announcement had scheduled digital pre-load for that same store date. Today’s Newswire moves the download up by two days and leaves the retail date on November 12.
Pre-orders are still open. On PlayStation 5, an automatic pre-load needs auto-downloads turned on, with the console powered on or in Rest Mode. On Xbox, automatic updates need to be on, with the console powered on or in Sleep. The steps for each platform are in Rockstar’s pre-load FAQ.
A poster and a map on launch day
On November 19 the official site will add a printable cover-art poster and a map of Leonida, both as free downloads. A double-sided physical poster follows at the Rockstar Store shortly after launch, at $0.99 on its own, or free with any purchase from that store.
